Some would say yes, since we talk about one of the best games released in 2012, others agree that it's too violent to be played twice. Dishonored is produced by Arkane Studios and it's expected this week to hit store shelves.

Dishonored, The New Game Addiction?

Dishonored, The New Game Addiction?

Dishonored is a simple story about revenge, but somehow managed to gather positive feedback from customers and games editors. The story starts with a royal assassination, some plague and a dying empire…I bet you want to play it too, hearing this short description.

Once you will enter the game, you will be Corvo Attano, somebody who doesn't want to be a hero, but ends by acting one, trying to make choices, divided between mind and heart. You will be accused by murder, you will fight for your life and you have to defeat those who really killed the empress and restore the royal order inside the rat-infested city of Dunwall.

Technically, you will start your adventure as a simple game of hide-and-seek with a child, leaving the more traditional aspects of first-person gaming, such as the firing of weapons and the mastering of supernatural forces, for later. The various missions that follow, will strengthen you in the middle of the 20th century England.

Dishonored is violent no doubt, not something to be played by children under 12, but in the same time is a spy game, keeping your mind busy all the time. Dishonored is also a supernatural game, reminding you of World of Warcraft. For instance, your own hero, Corvo, is the key to something beyond comprehension. As former bodyguard, he is forced to run after he's framed for killing the empress he was supposed to protect. Corvo is a trained killer, visited by a spiritual being named the Outsider, a deity-guardian who grants him a set of magical abilities. To access these abilities, you have to collect special runes that are hidden in the nooks and crannies of Dunwall's abandoned apartments.

Dishonored might be complex, but it also includes errors, that might annoy you. For instance, characters sometimes don't behave like they should: guards might stare at you from the outside of a tunnel, rather than crawling inside to chase you down. In the end, I think its best part, that you are given a set of tools and encouraged to experiment with them, will make you feel free as character and return to Dishonored.
